What is Bullying?
Repetitive harassment (physical, social, emotional, psychological) of an individual by another individual or group.
What is Violence?
Behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.
Who is Involved?
Victim, witness, perpetrator, adult, authority (principal, police)
What role do each play?
Victim | – Tell an adult (teacher, supervisor, parent, school nurse, secretary or any other adult the victim has confidence in) |
Witness | – Intervene immediately if comfortable – Tell an adult |
Adult | – Intervene immediately if comfortable – Tell the Principal – Ensure safety of individuals – ISM for employees |
Principal(s) | – Intervene immediately or call 911 – Ensure safety of individuals – Meet with each person involved to get their version of events – Protect their privacy and confidentiality of all parties. – Formally document incident and statements – Apply the Discipline Policy if necessary – Follow up with all parties in regularly to ensure situation has improved. |
